The ITSO Specification is the national, open standard that defines how smart ticketing works across public transport in the UK. It sets the rules that ensure cards, devices and back-office systems from different organisations can operate together securely and reliably. By providing a common framework for interoperability, security and data exchange, the ITSO Specification enables passengers to travel seamlessly across operators and regions, while giving authorities and operators the confidence that every ITSO-enabled journey works as intended.

Supporting our core products are valuable tools ITSO.connect and ICOM that help members run their schemes more effectively.

The ICOM (ITSO Compliance Tool) automated testing tool supports suppliers in preparing for certification and helps maintain consistency across ITSO-compliant schemes, whilst ITSO.connect provides a secure, web-based reporting platform that gives Members read-only access to their live ISMS data. It enables Members to monitor key metrics through dashboards and generate custom reports that can be saved and exported as needed.
