ITSO Certification

Applying for Testing & Certification

Starting your Certification journey

All equipment deployed within the ITSO environment must hold a valid ITSO Certificate of Compliance.

Certification ensures that products meet the requirements of the ITSO Specification and can operate securely and interoperably within live schemes.

Before certification can begin, a formal application is required.

Testing and Certification Process & Application Forms

The first step is to complete the relevant application form for the product, device or system you wish to certify. This provides ITSO with the technical and operational information needed to define an appropriate test scope.

Where clarification is needed, our team will contact you directly and may arrange a technical discussion to ensure requirements are fully understood before the testing certification scope is produced.

Early engagement helps reduce delays and ensures an efficient certification process.

  • Step 1: Complete relevant application form
  • Step 2: ITSO review and clarification of any technical points
  • Step 3: Agree the certification scope and testing approach
  • Step 4: Confirm next steps and timelines

Following successful completion of testing and evidence review, products are issued with an ITSO Certificate of Compliance. Certificates confirm conformance to the ITSO Specification and approval for deployment within the live ITSO environment.

Where testing outcomes or supporting evidence do not meet the required standard, a certificate will not be issued and further testing will be required before approval can be granted.

In certain specific circumstances where a Product is to be used in a local closed ITSO Environment, in advance of wider integration, a more limited certification is possible. Such options must be discussed with ITSO before progressing with Testing and must be accompanied with legitimate business reasons to support the request.

Following successful testing, the limited scope and lack of full ITSO conformance will be noted in Schedule B of the Certificate. The non-conformance and any requirement to obtain a Derogation from the ITSO Board will be detailed in the Schedule.
