A busy September for us with conferences and events and we are pleased to support the 8th annual UK Bus Summit as delegates on Thursday, 10th September 2026 at The Spine in Liverpool.
The transport industry is undergoing a pivotal shift in the UK and for buses, this is being driven by the Better Buses Act. Bus franchising and expanding local authority powers bring both new opportunities and the vital task of maintaining consistent passenger services. Building on our long-standing role in powering the national ENCTS scheme, ITSO remains deeply committed to supporting the evolution and future growth of smart ticketing across the UK bus sector.
A busy September for us with conferences and events and we are pleased to support the 8th annual UK Bus Summit as delegates on Thursday, 10 September 2026 at The Spine in Liverpool.
Organised by Transport Times and supported by the Liverpool City Region this year’s summit takes place at a pivotal time where the City is bringing its bus network back under public control for the first time in 40 years. Rolling out in phases starting in early September, the "Metro" network will include integrated smart ticketing connected across buses, Merseyrail trains, and ferries which will include ITSO smartcards.
We look forward to exploring how ITSO smart ticketing gives local authorities and combined authorities the governance, flexibility, and control required to deliver unified fare structures and seamless multi-operator travel.
Collaborating Across the Industry
The event includes Keynote speaker Simon Lightwood MP (Minister for Local Transport & Sustainability), alongside metro mayors, local authority leaders, operators, and technology suppliers. ITSO looks forward to collaborating with existing and new stakeholders across the industry.
"As bus reform accelerates across the UK, ITSO provides the secure, interoperable foundation that transport authorities need - enabling seamless, multi-operator travel across physical smartcards and mobile wallet ticketing."
