Yotra and Transport for West Midlands extend mobile solution to rail

Following the successful launch of ITSO on Mobile® on the West Midlands Metro tram network in late 2018, Yotra and Transport for West Midlands extend the solution to allow passengers to add rail travel to their Google Pay wallet in addition to their tram travel.

The Swift smart ticketing scheme works with bus, rail and tram operators offering commuters convenient and flexible ticket solutions across the whole network.  Swift was the first scheme in the UK to partner with Yotra and Google to add Swift products directly onto mobile phones.

ITSO on Mobile® in partnership with Google Pay enables passengers to purchase, fulfil and use tickets on their mobile phones.  Purchased tickets are securely delivered within seconds directly to the Google Pay digital wallet on the phone. There is no need to open up Google Pay, passengers simply need to wake up their phone when they are ready to go and tap the phone on the reader at the rail gate for immediate ticket recognition.

The West Midlands Network connects all public transport in the West Midlands, including Birmingham, Dudley, Sandwell, Coventry, Walsall, Solihull and Wolverhampton. Initially Swift on Mobile will deliver its ntrain zonal season tickets to direct debit customers prior to a wider roll out in the coming months.
