Transport for the North launch ITSO on Rail

Transport for the North has launched their ITSO on Rail project team, bringing several major operators and their suppliers together to focus on collaborative working and creating overarching principles to drive the scheme forward. Operators Northern, TransPennine Express and Merseyrail are working closely with their suppliers to develop the ITSO on Rail plans further.

Northern, in particular, is continuing to roll out ticket vending machines (TVMs) in its stations alongside continuing to work on delivery plans. The machines will make it easier for passengers to travel and buy tickets in the North, and are a pre-requisite for the ITSO and SMART technology in the future.

Operators are continuing to work together to develop the ITSO on Rail project successfully, with Darren Higgins of TransPennine Express voicing the changes needed to materialise through working collaboratively:
