Cost Calculator
The Cost calculator has been designed to provide
the costs for a Scheme that includes the applicable start up costs
for the first financial year and then the recurring charges for the
subsequent financial year based upon the same figures.
It allows for up to 10 participants of a Scheme and calculates the
costs of ITSO Membership, Operating Licences, Asset Management,
ITSO Products (IPE's) and ISAMs.
ITSO
expensive – It appears not!
There have been some comments recently about the
cost of ITSO. In order to give members an idea of both specific
costs and the incremental costs of an ITSO scheme we have provided
three documents;
The first is an independent look by MVA at the incremental costs
of 3 large schemes in various stages of development. The conclusion
reads as follows;
It would be reasonable for new schemes to assume a budgetary
figure of up to 5% on-costs for an ITSO scheme in a stable
post-ITSO-development phase, based on these figures provided by
schemes. However, the actual figure depends upon the balance of
one-off costs and annual recurring costs which in turn depends on
assumed scheme life.
The other two documents look at examples of schemes and calculate
the ITSO costs for various situations in the rail and bus sector
respectively. Again to give a flavour of these costs we have
provided the following table;
| One off costs | First year annual fee | Subsequent annual fee | ||
| Bus | Stand alone commercial scheme | £20,935 | £4,259 | £4,759 |
| Commercial scheme which 'piggy backs' on concessionary travel | £2,280 | £509 | £956 | |
| Rail | ATOC/RSP scheme | £3,420 | £87,784 | |
| Stand alone TOC scheme | £31,045 | £7,020 | £7,520 | |
| Commercial scheme which 'piggy backs' on concessionary travel | £2,850 | £1,206 | £1,206 |

basis for the calculations and perhaps calculate them for your own
scheme.
