For the emerging smartcard based public transport markets,
GIS Ltd have recently developed the Handy 440/450
inspector reader. This smartcard reader is intended for portable
use with almost any ISO-14443 card system including ITSO which
require a SAM for key storage.
The unit is housed in a lightweight ergonomically designed plastic
case and runs on a rechargeable Li+ internal battery. The user
interface is programmable and is based on a set of four or twelve
keys keys and a backlit LCD display with a graphical user
interface. The unit can be supplied with either RS232 or USB
interconnectivity using the supplied cradle and the styling is
designed for end-user customisation. The unit is NFC ready and an
OEM Bluetooth module can be fitted to allow wireless expansion
capabilities. GIS Ltd can supply either full
customisation and build or a development platform for in-house
development.
