SEDNA is focused on making schemes work pragmatically for both end users and the wider industry. To enhance SEDNA's offering we have put in place a 'Memorandum Of Understanding's' with other major industry contributors who are leaders in scheme security, open card operating systems and also in accreditation services. However, more relevant to the immediate needs of this project are our regular relationships with Focus International and other individuals who we feel appropriate to use on the ground during the data collection phase rather than the higher rated principles.

SEDNA has ready access to experienced technical support services which can be called upon to verify supplier offerings and support projects. This additional resource is also well versed in the design and implementation of card schemes, and has worked on the smartcard National Project software development.

SEDNA has already worked successfully with a range of clients; a major smartcard player in Hong Kong, a large UK bank and in particular a group of Local Authorities in the South West of the UK requiring a smartcard strategy for the implementation of smartcards.

SEDNA's two Principals, Chris Stanford and Peter Stoddart have been involved with ITSO from the beginning, they have a wealth of ITSO knowledge and experience as well as the respect they have earned within the industry. Their background in smartcards goes back much further than ITSO, bringing vast experience and contacts. Peter and Chris between them have over 40 years direct experience in:

  • Managing the inception and delivery of card schemes;
  • Design and development of card scheme technology;
  • Managing International and domestic collaborative ventures;
  • Chairing consensus seeking meetings.

Because of this wealth of experience SEDNA is able to work at technical development and consulting support levels.

We believe SEDNA provides the one stop shop for scheme support but also provides some unique benefits:

  • Chris & Peter are experienced Project Managers whose prime aim is delivery.
  • Chris, with an engineering background, continues to contribute technically to ITSO and as the principle UK expert for contactless cards is an internationally recognised senior figure in the industry bringing an in-depth knowledge of smartcards, practical scheme design and operation. Chris is also Head of ISO delegation on behalf of BSI.
  • Peter is an Independent Smartcards and Business Development Consultant; previously ITSO General Manager and now a part time member of ITSO with responsibility for Marketing; he remains an elected Director of ITSO representing the Suppliers Sector and brings the complementary skills of Business development and operation. His customer base and work with various card schemes mean a wide appreciation of system architecture and practical experience. Peter also acts as a link between ITSO and the National Smartcard Project, which is particularly relevant to this project.
  • Both have shared for many years the same vision of an entitlement/citizen type card and take great delight in being part of the delivery of this vision, in SEDNA - a consultancy aimed at helping all to implement the interoperable dream.
