Accrington Technologies Limited (ATL) is a joint venture company formed between Merseytravel and Ecebs. Its principal product is a solution capable of delivering smartcard functionality onto smartcards securely over the internet or intranet.
The power of the ATL Secure Array System (SAS) is such that it is possible to write secure tokens directly on to a smartcard in a remote location. For example it is possible with SAS to load concert tickets on to a smartcard over the internet using your home PC. All that is needed for the home user is an ISO standard plug in device. The ATL SAS takes care of the rest.
The system can also be used in retail networks so that more outlets can be empowered to deliver smartcard functionality directly into the smartcard in the hands of the customer. For ITSO this can mean the delivery of ITSO based products via a massive distribution network including retailers, remote kiosks, office systems and home users. Whilst it cannot replace an ISAM at the point of use of an ITSO ticket, it dramatically improves the utility of ITSO for the users and operators of ITSO based environments.
